Walkathon Challenge for 2023:
AAUPOC has successfully organized 3rd annual Walkathon Challenge for 2023. This event took place from Monday, September 11 to Wednesday, September 20, 2023 (with online step counts submission), and concluded with a 5 km Health Walk with in-person participation on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 4 p.m. at StoneBridge Trail, located at 3435 Longfields Dr. in Ottawa.

Annual Beach Trip:
AAUPOC has successfully organized the annual beach trip for 2023 on the 05th of August, 2023 (Saturday) from 08:00 AM onwards at Silver Lake Provincial Park Civic # 22726 Hwy 7, R.R.#2, Maberly, K0H 2B0.

Annual Friendly Hardball Cricket Match 2023:
AAUPOC successfully organized the annual hardball cricket match between AAUPOC and Ottawa Cricket Club (OCC) on July 09th Sunday, 2023 from 10:30 AM at Rideau Hall Grounds, 157 Mackay Street, Ottawa for the second consecutive year.

Upahara Gee Pedura 2023:
With great pleasure, we announce that we will be having our annual "Gee Pedura", a community sing-along with live music, to commemorate one of Sri Lankan legendary singers, Guru Dev. Sunil Santha, on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at Barrhaven United Church, 3013, Jockvale Rd, Ottawa from 6:00 to 10.30 pm.

Annual General Meeting:
The Annual General Meeting of the AAUPOC was held on the 26th of February, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 PM at 100-1343 Meadowlands Dr, Nepean, ON K2E 7E8 (Minto Recreational party room). This was an in-person meeting. A new executive committee was elected for the year 2023/2024.

The 10th Annual Hanthana Night - In virtual format

The 10th annual Hanthana Night (HN) was held on January 16th 2021 in the in virtual format. Since the inception of the AAUPOC in 2012, we have organized Hanthana Night as our flagship event in each fall, to promote friendship and comradery among the member families and friends of the Sri Lankan community living in Ottawa. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated restrictions for socializing, we were not able to host our HN in the traditional format in 2020 fall. Though we had no control over the unprecedented measures, we were able to react with poise and resourcefulness, due in large part to the enthusiasm of our Executive Committee and the organizing committee of 10th annual HN. Prestigious Award for a Member of AAUPOC
It is an honor and a great pleasure to inform you that one of our member of AAUPOC, Dr. Sange De Silva has been nominated for Queen Elisabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award which is given to few Canadians by the Government of Canada to appreciate and recognize their services rendered to Canada and its Citizens. Officially he will receive the award in due course. Sange De Silva is a founder member of AAUPOC and was an active member of the interim committee that organized the inaugural session of AAUPOC.
